Loose blocks, gaps, damaged sections, old filler and previous coatings should be assessed before the surface is sanded. The aim is to restore a flat, coherent floor while respecting the remaining timber thickness and pattern.
After sanding and dust removal, colour and protective finish are chosen around the timber species, existing tone and how the room will be used.
