DUBLIN FLOOR RESTORATION
We can assess suitable timber and parquet floors in living rooms, hallways, bedrooms, offices and other interior spaces. Photographs are useful for the first conversation: show the overall floor, the worst damaged areas, edges and any loose or repaired sections.
For larger or more complex floors, the condition of the substrate and the desired sheen should be agreed before work starts. That keeps the restoration focused on the result rather than treating sanding as a standalone operation.
The exact abrasive sequence and coating system are selected for the timber, existing condition and required finish.
FINISH OPTIONS
Restoration can retain a natural timber character, change the tone with a compatible colour system, or build a more formal lacquered appearance. Matte, satin and gloss outcomes require different products and preparation, and not every existing floor is suitable for every finish.
For parquet, the block pattern, remaining timber thickness, loose sections and sanding direction are considered as part of the same restoration process. Skirtings, doors and other timber elements can also be coordinated where the project requires a more consistent interior finish.
THE FINISHING SEQUENCE
Check boards, parquet blocks, fixings, gaps, previous coatings and damage. Repair or secure suitable areas before aggressive surface work begins.
Flatten uneven wear and remove the failed surface through the appropriate sanding stages, then progressively refine the scratch pattern.
Vacuum and detail the surface carefully. Where required, develop the colour with a compatible stain or treatment and prepare the timber for the selected coating system.
Build the agreed lacquer, oil or other suitable protective system in controlled coats, respecting drying and curing requirements between stages.
Where the coating system requires it, refine between coats to control fibres, dust nibs and surface texture before the next layer is applied.
For suitable fully cured lacquer systems, the final surface can be finely levelled and polished with progressively refined abrasives and compounds to develop a deeper, cleaner gloss.
WOOD FLOOR REFINISHING
A worn timber floor is not improved by simply making it shiny. The surface first needs to be assessed for movement, damaged boards, exposed fixings, deep marks, old coatings and uneven areas. Suitable repairs and local correction come before the main sanding sequence.
The aim is to level and refine the floor with the least unnecessary material removal. Main areas and edges are worked through a controlled abrasive progression so that coarse sanding marks are not carried into the final finish.
