Metal Finishing Dublin

Metal finishing starts with the alloy and existing surface.

Steel, stainless steel, aluminium, brass and copper do not all respond to the same preparation or abrasive sequence. Before work starts we identify the material where possible, assess corrosion, scratches, welds and previous coatings, then choose the finishing route.

Preparation and painting

For coated metal, oils, silicone, shop contamination and corrosion products need to be removed appropriately. The surface is then mechanically prepared as required before a compatible primer and topcoat system is applied. Poor degreasing or preparation is a common cause of adhesion and appearance problems.

Mechanical finishing

Metal work can include scratch removal, weld blending, grain correction, satin or brushed finishing and progressive polishing. On directional finishes, the grain must be restored consistently rather than leaving local patches with conflicting scratch patterns.
